After a frosty start to the day, a beautiful sunny afternoon greeted the Year 3 children as they made their way down the school field for their first encounter of Forest School.

The children were introduced to the team game ‘Giants, dwarves and wizards’ and were soon in a healthy competitive spirit as they expertly performed their actions to do battle against each other.

The children were well prepared and eagerly looking forward to our fourth visit to Forest School. After a quick recap on rules and boundaries, the children were sent off to explore and rediscover the area. Our theme this week was to take a closer look at mini-beasts and how we can use the environment to create art. The children were shown examples of environmental art by artist Andy Goldsworthy and then given the opportunity to create and explain, to one another, their own works of art.

Children had a real challenge this week, as the class were split into two groups for a game of ‘Count off’. The idea of this game is to count from one to twenty without preplanning who is going to say which number. If more than one person says a number, the count begins from the beginning again.

What an adventure the Nursery children had during their forest ever visit to our Forest School site this week! The grass was up to their chins in some places, which made for great hiding places!

The children explored every corner of this very exciting part of the school grounds and learned about the risks and rules of coming to Forest School.
