Nursery Forest School
Week 2
Wednesday 9th March 2022
A beautiful spring morning welcomed us today at Forest School!
We began our session by playing a warm up game around the fire circle, getting children listening to the names of some woodland animals, before practicing walking around the outside of the circle, one of our key safety rules at Forest School.
We then talked about the artist Andy Goldsworthy and looked at pictures of some of his artwork before trying to create our own sunflower pictures, in a similar style, using resources found at Forest School. Children were busy planting some sunflower seeds, ready for our Sunflower Challenge, and others were making clay leaves (in preparation for a surprise Mother’s Day gift!).
One thing that caught the children’s imagination this week however was when looking in the pond, they found a large amount of frogspawn! This generated lots of discussion! Mrs Farrington said that she would show the children a non-fiction book back in the classroom about frogs and the lifecycle of a frog. We can’t wait to follow the changes and see what happens each week when we come down to Forest School!
We loved our hot chocolate and biscuit again, and learnt a fun song called ‘Boom Chicka Boom’ which got everyone laughing!
