Year 3

Welcome from Mrs Frend & Mrs Knight!

Hello, we are Mrs Frend and Mrs Knight and we are the Year 3 teachers at Shobnall Primary & Nursery School. We love teaching Year 3 and cannot wait for a fun filled year of exciting learning opportunities and supporting our children in acquiring new skills.

Our curriculum in Year 3 is engaging, interactive and most importantly, fun!

Mrs Knight will be working with the class on a Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Frend will be working with the class on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Mrs France, Mrs Barrow, Mr Rowley and Mrs Marston will also be working with us this year!

Key Information

The school day starts at 8.55am and finishes at 3.30pm. The total time this amounts to in a typical week is 32.5 hours.

Your child will be given a piece of Maths or English homework on a weekly basis. The children will have a weekly times table test. To help them to practice their number facts and times tables, they have access to TT Rockstars and Numbots. The children will also have a weekly spelling test. The children will receive a list of spellings to learn but they can also access these on Spelling Shed where they will also find interactive games to help them to practice. Both tests will take place on a Friday. All homework will be given out on Fridays and is expected to be handed in on Wednesdays.

Please ensure your child brings their reading book and reading diary to school every day. We ask that the children read for at least 10 minutes every night, and talk about the books they are reading as this will support enjoyment, fluency and understanding. We also ask that your record this in their reading diary to enable us to keep a close eye on the amount of reading taking place.

PE will be on Wednesdays. Children will need to come to school in their kit on their allocated day. An outdoor kit should consist of plain black or navy jogging bottoms, a plain black or navy sweatshirt and trainers. For health and safety, children who wear earrings should have these removed on PE days.

The children do not need to bring any pencil cases or stationery to school as this will be provided for them.

Please ensure your child has a water bottle with them every day and can we remind you that we only allow water rather than squash.
