Hello and welcome to the Year 3 Class Page. I am Miss Toon and I am the Year 3 teacher at Shobnall Primary School. I am passionate about teaching and learning and I enjoy teaching the curriculum in a creative and engaging way. I aim to create a positive learning environment where children feel inspired and in love with their learning. When I am not at school, a lot of my time is spent with my chocolate Labrador puppy, Charlie. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading a good book and planning trips away to explore new places.
Mrs Marston, Mrs Riley and Mrs Ghent will also be working with us this year!
If you would like to find out a bit more about Miss Toon, have a look at the poster below…
Your child will be given a piece of Maths or English homework on a weekly basis. The children will have a weekly times table test. To help them to practice their number facts and times tables, they have access to TT Rockstars and Numbots. The children will also have a weekly spelling test. The children will receive a list of spellings to learn but they can also access these on Spelling Shed where they will also find interactive games to help them to practice. Both tests will take place on a Friday. All homework will be given out on Fridays and is expected to be handed in on Wednesdays.
Please ensure your child brings their reading book and reading diary to school every day. We ask that the children read for at least 10 minutes every night, and talk about the books they are reading as this will support enjoyment, fluency and understanding. We also ask that your record this in their reading diary to enable us to keep a close eye on the amount of reading taking place.
P.E will be on Wednesdays. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, P.E will be taught outside as much as is possible in smaller groups. Children will need to come to school in their kit on their allocated day. An outdoor kit should consist of jogging bottoms, a sweatshirt and trainers. For health and safety, children who wear earrings should have these removed on P.E. days.
The children do not need to bring any pencil cases or stationery to school as this will be provided for them.
Please ensure your child has a water bottle with them every day and can I remind you that we only allow water rather than squash.
