Welcome from Miss Alexander!

Hi! I am Miss Alexander and I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the EYFS team as the Reception class teacher at Shobnall Primary & Nursery School. I thoroughly enjoy being part of the children’s journeys as they gain knowledge and develop skills to become successful learners. I am passionate about providing fun and creative experiences and enjoy thinking of numerous ways to make the children’s learning memorable and exciting.

Support staff that work alongside me in the Reception class are Miss Walton, Mrs Martin and Mr Attwood.

If you would like to find out a bit more about me, have a look at the poster below…

Key Information

Children arrive through the EYFS gate at 8:45am and are collected at 3:20pm.

During the second half of the autumn term children will be given a weekly guided reading book in a named folder. This should be kept in book bags each day.

Homework is given out via SeeSaw, our online learning platform.

Each Friday children will also receive the phonemes that will be covered from the following Monday along with a phonics activity. This will also be sent via SeeSaw.

The children have P.E sessions on Tuesdays with our specialist P.E teacher Mr Attwood. Children will need to come to school in their kit on their allocated day. An outdoor kit should consist of jogging bottoms, a sweatshirt and trainers. For health and safety, children who wear earrings should have these removed on P.E. days.

Please ensure all children’s clothing, footwear, bags and water bottles are clearly named.

What to expect in the EYFS

The DfE has published a new guide for parents, produced by Sheringham Nursery School and Children’s Centre, entitled ‘What to expect in the Early Years Foundation Stage’.  This document supports parents in understanding the seven areas of learning and children’s development at particular ages and stages.
