Reception

Welcome from Miss Alexander!

Hi! I am Miss Alexander and I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the EYFS team as the Reception Class Teacher at Shobnall Primary & Nursery School. I thoroughly enjoy being part of the children’s journeys as they gain knowledge and develop skills to become successful learners. I am passionate about providing fun and creative experiences and enjoy thinking of numerous ways to make the children’s learning memorable and exciting.

Support staff that work alongside me in the Reception class are Mrs Martin and Mr Attwood.

Key Information

Children arrive through the EYFS gate from 8:45am. The school day starts at 8.55am. The children are collected at 3:20pm. The total time amounts to 32.5 hours in a typical week.

During the second half of the autumn term children will be given a weekly guided reading book in a named folder. This should be kept in book bags each day.

Homework is given out via EvidenceMe, our online learning platform.

Each Friday children will also receive the phonemes that will be covered from the following Monday along with a phonics activity. This will also be sent via EvidenceMe.

The children have PE sessions on Mondays with our specialist PE teacher Mr Attwood. Children will need to come to school in their kit on their allocated day. An outdoor kit should consist of plain black or navy jogging bottoms, a plain black or navy sweatshirt and trainers. For health and safety, children who wear earrings should have these removed on PE days.

Please ensure all children’s clothing, footwear, bags and water bottles are clearly named.
