2022 Forest School Reception Session 5

Forest School Week 5 (Full day)

The children were very excited to be spending both the morning and afternoon at Forest School. They had a brilliant time creating butterflies by carefully making a knot with two sticks. They then wrapped wool around both sides and added pipe cleaners. The perseverance the children showed when completing this activity was fantastic and we were very proud of their wonderful creations.

There was also some beautiful ladybirds and bees made from wood cookies. It was fantastic to see a wide variety of responses to this, they were all truly unique!

There was some great den building going on today and the children applied Forest School safety at all times. When moving large sticks and logs the children showed super team work and communication skills.

During the afternoon it was time it was time to say goodbye to our class butterflies as we released them. At first it appeared as though they didn’t want to leave the Reception class but the eventually fluttered their wings and flew onto a nearby tree.

What better way to end their Forest School experience than with s’mores! It was certainly the highlight of the day when the children toasted marshmallows and placed them in biscuits for a tasty treat. They listened carefully to instructions and used the respect position when toasting around the campfire. There were plenty of yummy and mmmms to end the Reception class incredible Forest School adventure!
