2023 Nursery Forest School Week 1

Wednesday 1st March 2023

The children arrived at Nursery this morning, very excited, for their first visit to Forest School!  So, after wrapping up warm and climbing into our waterproofs and wellies we set off.

On the way we took Bertie the Owl with us who helped us to look for some early signs of spring around the school grounds.  We spotted some beautiful purple crocus’, new leaves on the roses, flowers on our herbs, buds on the trees and some new growth on plants in our sensory garden.

The children listened really well to the Forest School safety rules and were soon applying them through their independent exploration, measuring sticks to see if they were shorter than their arm, so that they could be carried and working with a partner to carry the longer branches.

Continuing with our spring theme, Mrs Farrington sourced some spring flowers from her garden so that we could use the petals to decorate the initial letter of our name.

We loved having a hot chocolate, with the addition of a biscuit along with our fruit!  A little sing-song to finish off kept our spirits high as we walked back to Nursery, ready to go home.  What a fun and busy morning we had today!
