Week 4
Tuesday 21st March 2023
A beautiful spring morning welcomed us today at Forest School for today’s theme of planting and water play!
We began with a little detour to Forest School to sprinkle some wildflower seeds onto our wild garden area. We are hoping that they grow and give us a wonderful display for years to come.
This week children were following a set of instructions on how to plant a sunflower seed and were using the joints on their finger to measure the depth for placing in their seed. This generated lots of mathematical language, as did our tea parties! Children had great fun filling up teapots and making some yummy mud pies!
Following on from celebrating ‘Frog Awareness Day’ on Monday, and reading a non-fiction book about the lifecycle of a frog, one child spotted a frog in our pond! This led to great excitement! We can’t wait to see what happens each week now when we come down to Forest School to see if we can find any frogspawn.
We loved our hot chocolate and biscuit again, and learnt a fun song called ‘Boom Chicka Boom’ which got everyone laughing!
