We have had a wonderful afternoon during our first Forest School session. We listened carefully to the rules and practiced walking sensibly around the fire circle. There was also a surprise waiting for us, something was hidden in our curiosity cube. After we investigated further we found a tub of caterpillars ad the story ‘A Very Hungry Caterpillar,’ by Eric Carle. We are all so excited to take care of the caterpillars and observe their changes.
Our adventures continued as we explored the forest setting and joined in with various activities including hunting for minibeasts. We found lots of wiggly worms and Miss Alexander also tricked us by hiding some wool worms in the trees! It didn’t take us long to spot them and compare the different sizes.
After choosing a stick we used different materials to create a caterpillar they looked very colourful but we don’ think they will change into butterflies.
Finally we sat together around the fire circle to have a yummy hot chocolate and biscuit as we reflected on our adventures.
