Nursery Forest School Session 1
The Nursery children were very excited about getting on their wellington boots this morning all ready for their first Forest School session. We set off with a spring in our step, the sun shining, listening to the birds singing and singing our own ‘Off we go to Forest School’ song.
Having listened to our Forest School rules and playing a warm up game around the fire circle, we set off to explore our new outdoor environment, learning how to recognise brambles and nettles and other risks on our site.
Lots of children had great fun venturing off with friends, looking at our pond area and wondering what could live in there. Others tried their hand at many different activities based on this week’s class fairy tale, Jack and the Beanstalk. We planted our own beans, looked at the patterns on our bark rubbings, did a spot of leaf threading and used lots of natural materials to create the giant’s face using clay.
To end our fun session we all enjoyed a drink of hot chocolate and had our healthy apple snack…followed by a chocolate biscuit treat! We reflected about what we had learnt whilst at Forest School then giggled our way through a fun song called Boom Chicka Boom! We loved being at Forest School and can’t wait for our next session!
