Week 3 Wednesday 16th March 2022
This week at Forest School, the Nursery children demonstrated that they were able to listen to, and follow safety instructions really well. We began with a warm up game around the fire circle so that children could practice walking safely around it, rather than across it! They were all brilliant and manoeuvred themselves with great care, especially with the ground still being so muddy!
As well as growing in confidence whilst at Forest School and becoming more adventurous with their exploration, the children learnt a new skill of how to use a hammer, demonstrating great resilience and a ‘can do’ attitude. Selecting their own choice of flowers, they transferred the dye from the flowers onto a piece a cloth, using their hammer. This is an old Japanese art technique called ‘Hapa Zome’. The effects were stunning!
The children were keen to find out how the frogspawn was progressing and if any tadpoles had appeared as yet! Mrs Farrington collected a sample for the children to have a closer look at. “I can see tiny black dots! They haven’t turned into tadpoles yet.” I wonder what stage they will be at next week? We can’t wait to find out!
