Week 3 at Forest School

Monday 29th June 2015

The weather this week at Forest School was glorious, we were grateful to the shade created by the trees.

After looking to see if our nests had survived the past week, two out of three wasn’t bad, we had a quick game of 1, 2, 3 where are you?

This week we practiced safety around the fire circle by playing a game of ‘Fruit Salad’ using pictures of animals found in our woodland. So when fox, badger, vole, rabbit or squirrel was called the children and adults had to stand, walk around the fire circle and find a new log to sit on.

We then talked about the qualities of kindling needed to light a fire and while some of us collected kindling, others went off with Mr. Marshment to play a blindfold trust game. We had to walk carefully and follow a rope, keeping contact with the person in front of us and being aware of where we were placing our feet.

Other children chose to continue to work on their own nest creations and were very pleased with their end results.

A well earned drink and biscuit and a Forest School sing song concluded this week’s session.
