A partner academy in the John Taylor MAT

Reception Forest School Week 2

Wednesday 20th June 2018

Today our warm up game was ‘Bat and Moth’.  Maybe our hearing isn’t as good as a bat but we soon found our partner by listening carefully as they clapped their hands to reveal their location.

This week the children were introduced to using the secateurs and cut lengths of sticks and cow parsley to tie together or place inside containers to make minibeast homes.  We will study these carefully over the next few weeks to see if we have created cosy homes for the local bugs!

Other activities involved searching for ‘woolly worms’ in the undergrowth, talking about which colours were the easiest or hardest to find…

And creating our own nests for some birds.  One group even managed to sit a bird high up in a branch.  Great teamwork!
