Year 3 Forest School Session 12th March 2019

The wind didn’t stop us at Forest School this week!  We had lots of activities going on and learnt some new skills.  We continued with our boomerangs and had the opportunity to create our own Aboriginal art using charcoal.  Some of us had a go at learning a new knot called square lashing to create own our emu feet!

Many years ago, the Aboriginal tribes used spears to hunt for their food.  We had a go at creating our own safe versions by whittling sticks using sheath knives.  All of the pupils were extremely sensible and remembered some of the important rules: ensuring the blade is facing away from you on the outside of your body; wearing a glove on our helper hand and keeping the wood between you and the knife.

We ended with a fun song, ‘Who stole the cookie?’, some hot chocolate and a biscuit!
