Shobnall Primary & Nursery School is a vibrant school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve endless possibilities.
The pupils are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure that they are happy, inspired and confident and that the opportunities that are provided for them are relevant to their needs both now and in the future. Our most recent Ofsted in January 2012, judged us as ‘Outstanding’ and stated that, “Expectations and enthusiasm are high from the start. Strong and trusting relationships underpin pupils’ exemplary behaviour, which makes a strong contribution to their learning and to the smooth running of the safe school environment. Pupils are given an exceptional opportunity for personal growth in preparation for the next stage of their education and future lives.”
At Shobnall Primary & Nursery School, we believe that children should be curious about their learning. Through our engaging curriculum, we ensure that children can foster a passion for learning that will help to develop high aspirations and a lifetime of memories. As a school, we pride ourselves on high levels of pupil academic achievement because this is a school where achievement and endeavour are acknowledged and celebrated. We are also committed to ensuring that children receive a well-rounded curriculum; where individual talents can be spotted and nurtured to ensure that all children experience success and reach their full potential. We are also mindful of wellbeing and were one of the first schools to achieve the National Wellbeing Award for Schools (W.A.S).
The school has a dedicated team that works hard to reach high standards in everything we do and this is further embedded through our successful relationships with parents, the local community and the other schools in the John Taylor Multi-Academy Trust. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and school and regard you as an active partner in your child’s education and value your interest and support.
There are currently 244 pupils on roll, which includes 26 who attend part-time in the Nursery. The school is divided into eight classes, Nursery, Reception and Years 1–6. The school was built in the Victorian era and many original features still remain. Modernisation in recent years has provided the school with updated facilities including a range of interactive and multi-media equipment, a spacious school hall which is used for PE, Dance and Drama, an attractive library, two large playgrounds, two trim trails, a large outdoor field, a sensory garden, Forest School, and breakfast and after school provision.
