Nursery Forest School Week 3
The Nursery children didn’t let the rain and wind stop them having a wonderful time at Forest School this week! It was very muddy as they set off across the field but spirits were high as they joined in with songs whilst making lots of muddy footprints.
When they arrived they shared the story of the Gingerbread Man with puppets which they all took an active role in. They listened carefully for their animal and took turns in running away whilst singing that famous rhyme, ‘Run, run as fast as you can…..’
Some children then went onto collect lots of different woodland items to create a giant Gingerbread Man. Meanwhile, others created a smaller version using more delicate natural materials.
The children enjoyed grating and grinding ginger and they had lots of fantastic descriptions to describe the scent ‘It’s Christmas’, ‘I can squash it down to make a drink’, ‘That’s inside my mummy’s candle’……
One of the most important tasks of the morning was that of building a bridge to help The Gingerbread Man cross the lake before the fox offered him a lift! The children showed great resilience, team work and creativity as they built a range of bridges that eventually got him to safety.
There was lots to share when reflecting on our session and after they warmed up with a hot chocolate and mini gingerbread man it was time for some of our favourite songs Boom chicka boom….
