Since we began our Forest School journey at Shobnall Primary in 2015, we have developed our own Forest School site and provision, which had been showcased to visitors from local schools as well as oversees from South Korea. We are extremely proud of our Forest School provision at Shobnall and are always proactive in looking at ways of improving this further.
Recently we have been working with The National Forest, and were delighted to receive an award from Creating a Forest for Learning, in June 2019, for the recognition of our outdoor provision entitled, ‘Inspiring the Beginning of a Forest Future’.
We also secured a grant, earlier in the year, from The National Forest, which we have put towards purchasing a waterless Kazuba toilet called a ‘WooWoo‘! This was chosen because of its ease of maintenance and aesthetically it’s sleek wooden design blends in perfectly with our natural environment. It was finally installed last week, in probably the worst weather conditions possible! However, now having a fully functioning toilet down at Forest School will make a huge impact not only on lessons, organisation and time keeping but will also help to further improve children’s mental well-being too.
