A partner academy in the John Taylor MAT

Week 4 at Forest School

Monday 6th July 2015

Our Forest School session this week began with a busy game of ‘hungry birds’. Children worked co-operatively with a partner and collected woollen worms that were hidden in the woodland.

We discussed how some colours were really easy to spot and others were more difficult; this reinforced our learning about things being ‘camouflaged’.

This week we introduced the children to whittling bark off a hazel stick using a potato peeler. Children listened with great care as Mrs. Farrington gave a tool talk. FSBLOG 6.7.6 All children then demonstrated safety to themselves and others as they practiced their newly acquired skill.

We were all very pleased with ourselves, and hope to use our sticks next week to toast marshmallows!FSBLOG6.7.9
