Week 4 at Forest School for Reception Class

Wednesday 13th July 2016

When we arrived at Forest School today Explorer Ted was waiting for us around the fire circle. Inside his bag he had a pinecone and a plastic skittle! We talked about where the pinecone came from and compared it to the plastic man made skittle. As Explorer Ted only likes natural things in his Forest School we went on a mission to collect the unnatural objects which were mysteriously scattered all over the place!

Back at the fire circle, it was very exciting to see our first lit campfire. We listened very carefully as Mrs Farrington taught us all about fire safety, and how to sit using the ‘Respect’ position.

The excitement continued as we got to toast marshmallows…they were delicious! But we had to remember to blow on it first 12 times, so that they didn’t burn our mouths.

Children were busy at lots of different activities this week. Children made forest crowns, pictures using natural materials, den building and some found a nice steep bank to roll down…you were caught on camera Miss Walton!

We were all ready for our drink and biscuit this week; Forest School is thirsty work! Cheers everyone, another brilliant session!
