Week 5 at Forest School

Monday 13th July 2015

Our last Forest School session of the year, and wow what an exciting session we had! We began by reflecting on what we did last week and what we could remember about using the potato peelers – we could remember lots, Mrs. Farrington was very impressed!

Mrs. Farrington then lit a campfire and after giving us a safety talk about working with the campfire, we began toasting our marshmallows.

We had to remember to blow on our marshmallows 12 times before we could eat them to make sure they were cool enough to eat. They were soft, gooey and delicious!!!

After a quick farewell to the woodland we were back on the minibus where our second adventure of the day began.

Each week the helicopters and aeroplanes that can be seen as we pass by Tatenhill Airfield have fascinated the children. Mr. Marshment kindly organised a surprise visit for the children on our return back to school. The minibus was filled with cheers as excited children found out where they were going!

At the airfield all the children had the opportunity of sitting in one of the planes used for training purposes and loved pretending they were the pilot. Thank you Mr. Marshment for making lots of children’s dreams come true. They had a marvellous time and a wonderful ending to another very successful Forest School experience.
