Our penultimate forest school session was properly the muddiest yet! The children still learnt a lot despite trying not to slip over. We revisited last week’s session and discussed the art work we created and we also reflected on our observations of wildlife. This week we learnt a new knot called a timber hitch, or as the children called it, “Sammy the snake”.
We explore the reasons you would use this knot and the children decided that it would be useful if we were to ever need a shelter. So then we decided to create some shelters using the timbre hitch.
Once the shelters were up the children had a great time hiding underneath the shelter of their tarpaulin dens.
We even had a little hot chocolate at the end of the session, which year 2 were extremely happy about as the mud and rain had created a lot of mess!
