Year 3 Forest School – Week 2

Wow! Another fun-filled week at Forest School.

Continuing with our Australian theme to suit our topic, we made our own Aboriginal patterns in the mud using bird seed.  Some of us had the opportunity to make our own boomerangs from cardboard before decorating them with mud, leaves and bird seed.  Year 3 can’t wait until these are dry so we can test them out!

As many of the children are interested in the Australian animals, Miss Lord had described an animal called an Echidna to the children, which is similar in appearance to a hedgehog and can be found in Australia.  Using natural materials such as mud and sticks, the children created their own versions of the echidna.  Being Shrove Tuesday, we swapped our biscuits for mini pancakes around the fire pit this week, yum!

The children loved being creative with the activities this afternoon and as you can imagine, everyone is excited for more Forest School sessions.
