Year 3: Forest School Session – 27 April 2021
Year 3 really enjoyed their second forest school session. The session started with a game of reflection relay. The children had to use their fantastic team working skills. One person in each group stood a distance away from their group. In turn, each team member had to hold a mirror and walks backwards towards the first member, around them and back, just using the mirror and instructions from their team mates. This game was quite challenging but we had a lot of fun!
During the next few weeks, the children will complete a selection of activities. Many of these activities are based on our ‘Iron Man’ topic.
This week, one group were making a Celtic cross. They had to use a mora knife and whittled off the ends of some sticks to make a more rounded edge. Then, the children learnt how to lash two sticks together using a square lashing knot. This created the cross shape. We were very impressed by what the children created.
Again, the session ended with hot chocolate and biscuits. While drinking their hot chocolates, the children were encouraged to sit quietly and listen to the sounds around them. We finished on a song called A-Ram-Sam-Sam. I wonder how many of you at home have been taught how to be A-Ram-Sam-Sam master?
