Year 4 began their Forest School experience in fabulous weather and were able to explore the area for the first time. The children were given a tour around the site and then given time to walk around it at their leisure.
The children were then given the safety talk and how to best spot potential dangers before beginning their first activity. The children had the task of search in designated areas for ‘non-natural’ items using their observation skills alone.
The children worked very well in their groups of 2 or 3 and were able to find most if not all of the items hidden. The session then moved towards the preparation for next week’s session with a discussion about how to safely move around the ‘Fire Circle’. The children were all able to approach the fire, enter and leave the circle as well as adopt the ‘Respect Position’ very well meaning that next week we will be able to cook some food during Healthy Eating Week.
