This week Year 4 had a very different type of Forest School experience as the weather had changed from topical sunshine to a tropical monsoon! However, Year 4 being the hardy bunch they are ploughed on and had a wonderful time nonetheless. Firstly, the children recapped on some safety points from last week before the children we’re split into groups. Group one began the session by attempting to build a den using the natural resources in the area. Group 2 started by making pendants using pieces of wood that had been reclaimed from the Forest School area and finally Group 3 prepared their bananas ready for roasting on the fire!
The den building group created some brilliant structures, demonstrating some Ray Mears esque bush craft skills, using their previous experience of the activity during the school trip to Conkers. The cookery group also triumphed in their activity by producing some lovely treats as a mid-morning snack. This activity enabled the children to put into practice their newly learnt skills of fire safety in the Forest Schools area.
