22.5.19 –Forest School Session Seven

Year Five have had a fantastic time at Forest School this term. The weather has been extreme from sunny days to non-stop rain but the children have embraced their sessions no matter what.

All of the children were in for a treat this week as we cooked trolls toes (nachos) on the fire. It was delicious and we all enjoyed eating it around the fire circle.

Today’s session allowed for the children to complete activities that they have enjoyed from all of the previous sessions. Some of the children were continuing with their den building skills by applying all the skills they have learnt and using the tension knot to secure their tarpaulin.  They also had a go at making their own wands again. This allowed the children to develop their skills on how to use a sheath knife as well as making refinements based on their previous knowledge.

The children also used the mud bricks that we created last week to create Hagrid’s house as well as creating the house flags using different materials by weaving them through the fence panels.

We finished off our final session by reflecting on our wonderful time at Forest school this year and all the amazing things we have made during our Expelliarmus topic. The children already cannot wait for next year!
