2024 Reception Forest School Week 2

2024 Reception Forest School Week 2
April 26, 2024 Rebecca Ellerton

Another exciting forest school for reception this week, it was also extra special as we celebrated Coopers and Gibriel’s birthdays!

Our robin was waiting for us on the gate as we entered the forest area. We were quiet so we didn’t frighten him. He continued to pop up throughout the session and got very close to us. Some of us hunted for worms to give him a tasty treat. Now we are thinking of a name for him…

It was interesting finding lots of different natural materials as we collected them to create a giant snail! We carefully created the body with a long log and then started on the shell. We made it in a spiral pattern with different leaves, wood cookies and pinecones. We also used some sticks to add tentacles.

We showed super teamwork when using longer sticks to build bug homes by asking our friends to help us carry them. Lots of us thought carefully about the different parts that would be needed and used our imaginations to bring our ideas to life.

The snail theme continued as we rolled clay to make our own snails and added conkers for their shells- they looked great!

During our reflection we had birthday cake with our hot chocolate and sang Happy Birthday to our friends.
