Nursery Forest School
Week 1
Wednesday 2nd March 2022
Our first session at Forest School was a very cold and rainy one, although it didn’t dampen the spirits of the Nursery children who were keen to get going and begin exploring!
After climbing aboard our Safety Train, we began our journey down to Forest School, with Bertie the Owl, who wanted us to spot some early signs of Spring. We spotted flowers growing on some pansies, saw crocus’ growing, daffodils in neighbouring gardens and down at Forest School we saw lots of buds on the trees!
After carefully listening to the Forest School rules, we explored our new environment and learned to look out for brambles, nettles, holes in the ground and how to carefully walk over and around muddy pathways!
As well as lots of independent learning, we got to make our own nature bracelets, collaged the initial letter of our names with natural resources and made a musical rattle, using a Y shaped stick, some wire and beads.
Our hot chocolate at the end of the morning, warmed us up a treat! We reflected on what we had learnt whilst at Forest School, before a powerful rendition of The Grand Old Duke of York to conclude our first session. What a great ‘muddy’ time we all had!
